How I Made My First $100 Online

“Only $100? What an uninspiring headline.”

I know $100 doesn’t sound a lot, but the first $100 I made online meant a lot to me. It is not that $100 buys me a lot these days, but more importantly it proved to me something. It proved that my 2 years of spent on cracking the code ‘How To Make Money Online’ finally paid off. I found MY WAY of making money online, and I didn’t really sold any product. If you want to copy my success, read on.

How Internet Marketing Works

This is how internet marketing works. I will use the example of selling an eBook. An author writes an eBook and wants to be paid for it. Authors can always sell it on their own but it is smarter to leverage on affiliates to promote the eBook. The author will allow affiliates to promote the eBook and when customers buy the eBook the author gives them a commission.

Most of the people who make money online are using this model. They are either authors or affiliates. For the past 2 years I have been spending a lot of time and money learning to be a successful affiliate.  Many gurus tell you how easy it is to be a successful affiliate. I disagree. It takes a lot of time and effort to learn the skills. (driving traffic, promoting products)

I Cut The Work Load In Half

When I started trying to make money online, I learnt everything.  I can do all the following:

  • Facebook Marketing (Fan Page and Ads)
  • Youtube Video Sites
  • Pinterest
  • Twitter
  • WordPress
  • Amazon FBA Sites
  • Shopify Dropshipping

And yet I was still not making. I knew something was wrong but I didn’t know my problem. It was in 2015 I attended a workshop by Patric Chan.

Patric n Me

He taught me the most important lesson of my internet marketing career. “You need to focus on what gives you the best result, not trying to do everything under the sun. Stop buying those useless Internet Marketing tools and start making money by being a Solo Ad seller. Move on to being an affiliate after you master the basics.”

Patric’s advice really hit me. I know what went wrong! I was doing everything except making money. Let me just focus on making money with Solo Ads.

What Is A Solo Ad?

Solo Ad is a way to drive traffic to a website. As an affiliate, you need people to visit your websites to see the products you are promoting. There are 3 ways to achieve this:

Traffic source

Traffic Source 1: Facebook

Facebook was the best way to drive traffic for affiliates, until Facebook started banning every affiliate’s Facebook account. (What An ‘A’ Hole) Affiliates are main advertisers in Facebook, giving Facebook money but Facebook just hates money.

Traffic Source 2: SEO (Search Engine Optimization)

Long story short, SEO is just making your website rank higher in Google search. The top 1% affiliates are doing very well with Google SEO while the 99% are not getting any results. (How many number 1 can there be in Google search results?)

If you are a newbie in internet marketing, I suggest not even trying SEO.

Traffic Source 3: Solo Ads

what is solo ad

A solo ad is a one time email blast you buy from a vendor that has created a “list” of people they have collected. If you have a mailing list, you can sell solo ads. Yes, you can get paid just by sending emails. When people in your mailing list visits the website, you get paid even though they did not buy anything,

It Is That Simple

Can you see why I say I managed to cut my work in half? I do not need to know any promotion or marketing strategies. I just need to focus on building my mailing list. I do not even need to learn how to write emails. Most of the time my customers are the ones who write the email. I just need to copy and paste their email and send it to my subscribers.

What Are The Numbers?

It takes money to make money. Anyone who tells you otherwise is not being entirely honest. (Or they want to sell you their “Free” Traffic software.) I used $1000 as my seed money to purchase 2000 clicks (visits to my website) at $0.50 per click. 30% of the visitors signed up for my newsletter. So I have 600 subscribers in my mailing list.

Next, I started selling Solo Ads!

I started mailing my list to visit my customer’s website. I charged the same amount I bought them from, $0.50 a click. My customer bought a 200 click package and I delivered it in 2 days. 200 clicks at $0.50 a click= $100. YES! I MADE IT!

Conclusion

And that was how I got my first $100. All I need to do from here is grow my list and continue selling solo ads. The larger my list, the more solo ads I can sell. Today solo ad has replaced my day job and I am officially a full time internet marketer!

Now I can start learning affiliate marketing and start to make more profits!
